The immediate past Commissioner for information, Mr Aniekan Umanah has denied claims that he squandered over Three Billion Naira meant for digitization contracts for AKBC Radio and Television.

The former Commissioner who also challenged those he termed as “the purveyors of this falsehood” to produce facts and evidence to buttress their “rambunctious” claims also insisted that he does not own any media outfit or even a pin in the Republic of Ghana as claimed by the spurious reports which not only went viral on social media, found its way into some local tabloids.

In a press statement signed by Sixtus Tom, media aide to Umanah and made available to NEWS LINK, the former commissioner challenged the merchants of those lies to produce the name, location and ownership of such business ventures to buttress their case.

Umanah who remains the favourite for the Abak-Etim Ekpo-Ika House of Representatives seat in 2019 said the origin of the fake news has been traced to the media handlers of the current member representing the Federal Constituency, Hon Emmanuel Ekon.

He warned that nothing will stop his march to the Green Chambers next year despite the panic his aspiration has created in Ekon’s camp.

“It is clear that the towering Continental image of the Honorable Umanah and particularly his bid for the House of Representatives seat for Abak-Etim Ekpo – Ika come 2019 ( an election he stepped down in 2015 at the instance of the State former Governor and worked hard to enable the current member to have a second term in office), is giving them sleepless nights.

“Let it be stated in clear terms that Elder Aniekan Umanah is determined to contest and win election for that office by the Grace of God, in line with the resolution of the Stakeholders and Party leaders at Independence Hall, Abak, zoning the House of Representative seat to Abak LGA for justice, equity and fairness to prevail.

“Finally, we wish to call on aspirants for the House of Representatives seat in Abak, – Etim Ekpo – Ika including the current member to support the former Commissioner’s aspiration. THIS IS CALLED JUSTICE”, part of the statement read.
